The Black socket is for line in form cd / tape players and optical
connections.
The Red socket is for Microphones or direct from a Turntable.
- Using the wrong socket will either result in distortion or the sound
level being too low
Recording: Note the lid will Lock and you can't remove
the disc until it has written the TOC
Press REC and the new track number will flash,
- Set the recording level using << >>, usually LINE 23 is about
right. - If too high you will get a distorted sound.
- Press MODE to adjust the LONG PLAY (if applicable), Remember that the disc
may not work in other machines if you are using LP2 or LP4
- Press DISP if you wish to see how much time is left on the disc.
- Press PLAY to begin.
- Press STOP to end, Then STOP again to TOC

Editing:
DISC NAME
- Press EDIT, ENTER
- Use << >> to select a Alphabetical character, ENTER, Repeat
for each letter of the disc name.
- Press STOP to abort
- Press BASS to Delete a Character
- Press - / + to scroll back or forwards.
- Press DISP to change to lower case and access numbers.
- Press ENTER when done, Then STOP to TOC

ERASING TRACKS
- Press EDIT twice, Enter twice to delete the entire disc.
- To delete a track; Use << >> to select the track then press
EDIT three times, Enter Twice
MOVING A TRACK
- To move a track, Use << >> to select the track to be moved
then, EDIT, ENTER, Use << >> to select the position to be moved
too, ENTER.
COMBINING A TRACK - to put two successive tracks together, ie remove a
gap.
- Select the track using << >>, then Press EDIT till
"combine", ENTER twice.
NAMING A TRACK
- Select the track to be named by using << >> then press EDIT
till "Track Name", ENTER
- See DISC NAME for entering letters
DIVIDING A TRACK
- Play the track to the point where you wish to create a gap then press PLAY
/ PAUSE,
- Press EDIT till "Divide" then ENTER twice. - this makes it into
2 tracks.
Other Features
Hold, Hold stop button down to toggle key lock on and off. (or
use switch on remote)
LOCKED, the lid will be locked during editing and recording. If
your battery goes flat or you lose power you can't get the disc out until the TOC
editing has finished.
BASS use this to alter the bass sound of playback through the
headphones, (doesn't alter the way the MD records)
Charging Press STOP / MODE or CHRG to start the charging.
TOC Table of contents, the md stores a list of
tracks and names. It writes to this list at the end of recording.
Error Messages
- Can't Copy - the disc is not a recordable one.
- Can't record - bad disc or too much vibration.
- Defect - disc is damaged.
- Protected - the tab on the side of the disc is in the protected
setting.
Note, Mini discs are not 100% reliable. It is quite common for all of
the music to be lost as the TOC can be damaged easily, preventing access. -
